Over Night Trail Rides at Camp Mohaven

The Overnight Trail Ride will start out in the mid afternoon, traveling for 2.5 hours through scenic Mohican country and ending up at our river-front campsite. After arriving at camp, wranglers will prepare supper over the campfire, giving riders time to relax and enjoy the river. Tents are provided; all you need to bring is your sleeping bag and personal items.

Wake up in the morning to smell of coffee and breakfast being prepared and then saddle up for the ride back to camp. You can choose to end your adventure after the ride or go canoeing on the Mohican River. Mohaven also offers an outdoor pool (when available) and Frisbee golf course.

If you are unable to ride we offer wagon rides to and from the camp site.

Minimum riders: 4
Maximum riders: 8
Minimum age: 8 (Minimum age applies to horseback riding only, younger children are encouraged to participate in the over night via wagon ride)

Curly
Foaled: 1999
Breed: Haflinger
Color: Palomino
Built like a mini-tank, Curly is the Mohaven Mascot, as well as escape artist. Curly is a staff horse, due to her ability to scrape inexperienced riders off on tree limbs. She sees every fence as a challenge, to either climb over, or through, causing minimal to no damage. Her orneriness and personality make her a staff favorite. Curly enjoys hanging out on the opposite side of the fence from everyone else and Swimming.
Hope
Foaled: 1999
Breed: American Paint

SS Showshana, better known as “Hope” is one of the newer additions to the Mohaven herd but has already proven herself to be a steady trail horse. Her dependability makes her great for all ages and levels of experience. Hope enjoys Midnight rides and Trotting
Houdini
Foaled: 2004
Breed: American Paint
Color: Mostly White with a few Brown Patches
Houdini is characterized by his Blue eyes and his love for “people food” (Mint chip ice cream and French fries are his currant favorites). Up until this past year, 2011, he was a staff-only horse. He is now a regular in the trail line and is patient and steady with unsure riders. He enjoys Snacking as much as possible, and dislikes baths and fly spray
JR
Foaled: 2001
Breed: Quarter Horse
Color: Chestnut
When you arrive at Mohaven Stables, Badger’s Mighty Man, better known as “JR” will be one of the first to greet you. As one of the sweetest horses at Camp Mohaven, he’s always looking for attention and treats. JR is a staff horse at the present, due to some anxiety issues but is greatly improving and will be joining the trail line soon. He enjoys long gallops and lots of attention.
Lucy
Foaled: 1989
Breed: Quarter Pony
Color: Brown
Mohaven just wouldn’t be Mohaven without Lucy. Steady as they come, she’s got a mind of her own and doesn’t take no for an answer. Due to her size and dependability, she’s perfect for first time riders. Lucy enjoys Trotting over ground poles and Eating.
Pewter
Foaled: 2009
Breed: Arabian
Color: Dark Grey
Pewter is one of the calmest little horses you’ll ever come across. She’s very sweet and up for anything new. She’s currently untrained but most likely will join the trail team as a staff horse in the coming years.
Rebel
Foaled: 1991
Breed: Quarter Horse
Color: Red
Don’t be fooled by Rebel’s “tough-guy” antics, he’s a big teddy bear at heart. As a quiet, dependable trail horse he’s been a camper favorite over the years, for all ages and experience levels. Rebel enjoys going for Bareback rides and Jumping
Roco
Foaled: 2010
Breed: Tennessee Walker
Color: Chestnut
Ramblin’ ROC or “Roco” as we call him, is the youngest member of the Mohaven herd. He is currently untrained, but with his fearless attitude he’s sure to make a good addition to the team as a Staff horse in the coming years.
Sassy
Foaled: 2009

Sassy lives up to her name; she’s a little horse with a lot of attitude. She has her mother, Snickers’, intelligence and good looks. She will most likely be joining the trail team as a Staff horse in the coming years.
Snickers
Foaled: 2000
Breed: Arabian
Color: Dark Brown
Snickers knows her own mind, but is willing to please and is good on the trail. She is currently a Staff horse but with time she will be able to be in the trail line. Unfortunately due to some bone trouble with her Right Rear leg, she’s limited to carrying light riders on shorter rides. She enjoys chasing the Camp dogs around the pasture and going for brisk walks.
Sterling
Foaled: 2000
Breed: Arabian
Color: Grey
Sterling is the resident diva. She’s picky about who rides her, as long as you’re quiet and gentle she “allows” you to ride, but one jerk or bounce too much and the ride comes to an abrupt end. She’s currently a semi-permanent staff horse, with a few exceptions, depending on the rider’s experience. She enjoys Swimming and going for a gallop through the woods.
